Local billboard requests divine aid for economy

A retired orthopedic surgeon turned entrepreneur, Johnson is so frustrated by what he perceives to be a backward business climate in Michigan that he wrote a prayer and had it mounted on four highway billboards, one of them on Whitmore Lake Road north of Ann Arbor:
Dear Gracious Heavenly Father,
Forgive us our sin of being dependent upon the Automobile Industry and not on You. Please restore invention, productivity and prosperity.
In Jesus Name,
A Michigan Citizen

An Okemos resident, the 71-year-old Johnson owns Prescription Putting, a company specializing in innovative golf putters and putting methods.
This past year Johnson asked a Chelsea company to manufacture a new putter head. He declined to reveal the company's name but said it quoted a price five times higher than he'd been charged by a California company.
Frustrated, Johnson walked away.
