hompson requested his ashes be shot out of a cannon

Author William Kennedy got a call from Hunter S. Thompson two weeks ago, complaining about unspecified pains, reports Dennis Duggan. Yesterday, Kennedy talked to Thompson's son, Juan. "He said that his father wanted a church funeral and he had asked that his ashes be shot out of a cannon," says Kennedy. Hunter Thompson was a great companion. He was very smart, and he had a wild and crazy way about him that was great fun. He was also very serious about literature, and he was a helluva writer." [from Poynter.org]
